Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: December 2024
1. Our Commitment
Tutor Nest UK is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people who use our services. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and take our duty of care seriously. This policy applies to all online tuition sessions delivered by Tutor Nest UK.
2. Online-Only Safeguarding Approach
As all lessons are delivered online, we have implemented specific measures to ensure student safety:
- Lessons are conducted via secure, reputable video conferencing platforms.
- Parents/carers are encouraged to be present or nearby during sessions, particularly for younger students.
- Lesson recordings may only be made with explicit consent and for educational purposes only.
- All communication with students takes place through agreed, transparent channels (e.g., via parent/carer email).
- No private or social media contact with students is permitted.
3. Professional Boundaries
Tutor Nest UK maintains clear professional boundaries at all times. Our tutor will:
- Communicate only through professional channels and only with parents/carers.
- Never share personal contact details with students.
- Ensure all interactions are appropriate, respectful, and focused on learning.
- Dress appropriately and conduct sessions in a professional manner.
- Ensure the background of the video call is appropriate and free from distractions.
4. Recognising and Reporting Concerns
We are alert to signs of abuse, neglect, or any other welfare concerns. If a concern arises during a session or through communication, we will:
- Listen carefully and take the concern seriously.
- Record the concern accurately and promptly.
- Report concerns to the appropriate authorities (e.g., local children's services, police, or NSPCC helpline) where necessary.
- Inform the parent/carer unless doing so would put the child at further risk.
